What is a Server?
A server is a computer designed to serve multiple users and run shared applications as part of a network. Servers are usually dedicated to specific tasks, such as Web hosting or file sharing. That means they store all the information for a designated purpose and performs all essential functions associated with it. For example, a Web server stores all files related to a Web site and performs all work necessary for hosting the Website. A network server holds the files and manages the proccesses that enable everyone in the office to access and use the network. A file server holds thecentral computer files and databases that the company relies on. And a multi-purpose server handles all of these tasks simultaneously for smaller businesses.
